How humid should my wine cellar be?

Humidity plays an important role in a good wines cellar. Corks are most affected by the humidity. A dried out cork allows oxygen to seem in to the bottle and age the wine or change its taste. Keep your wine cellar’s humidity level at 70-75% to avoid corks blow drying. In drier climates, like the American Southwest, keep bowls of drinking water in the cellar to help humidify the environment. In other parts of the united states where humidity is widespread, remove excess humidity in your cellar by running fans. In either case, choose humidity evaluate to retain in your cellar…and check it regularly.
